The Legacy of Barb Lamoureux

We weren’t sure if the day would ever come, but it’s official: Barb Lamoureux retired. And on January 29 there was even a retirement party to prove it.

If you don’t know Barb, you’ve probably seen her “for sale” signs hanging around Everett. A top local Realtor for nearly 40 years, Barb went on to found her own company, Lamoureux Real Estate. Live in Everett first started in the Lamoureux Building and we’ve been proud to have Lamoureux Real Estate as one of our most avid supporters over the years. But Barb’s contributions to the community run much further and deeper than just helping make Live in Everett possible.

During Barb’s retirement party the packed banquet room at the Everett Golf and Country Club had more volunteers than time permitted for people to share stories upon stories of the positive ways Barb had influenced their life. Or the generosity she had shown. Or her tenacity that had helped them. When you are as remarkable as Barb Lamoureux, there is never any shortage of remarks.

When asked what she will miss the most after retiring, Barb responded, "I am hoping to stay engaged in the community so will have a chance to continue relationships and business even if it is not selling real estate. I always look for opportunities to lend a helping hand."

"I think Everett is on the right path," Barb says when asked about her hopes for the future of the city. "I can't imagine living anyplace else. Everett is home for me."

Barb's commitment to helping others extends beyond just her clients. She has always been willing to lend a hand to anyone who needs it. "I feel there is a lot of opportunity here, and even better, most long-time residents are always willing to be helpful to anyone who needs it. Just ask!" Barb shares.

When asked about her proudest moments over the years, Barb looks back to her early days as an agent. "I think when I was first starting out, I watched what my parents did and followed along. I have always been a person who would 'just say yes' and loved the opportunity to contribute anyway I could."

Barb's positivity and generosity have left a lasting impact on the community. When asked for advice on how others can have a positive impact like she has, Barb suggests being "out there" and letting your talent shine bright. "Be nice," she adds. "When you are a part of a community, there is a lot of opportunity to make a difference for a lot of people. I don't think I did that consciously, but I grew up to be a person who loved helping others. I got personal satisfaction from that, and there are so many out there who could use your help."

John Weston // Kaitlyn Price

Barb's old office at 1904 Wetmore Avenue will now be occupied by John Weston of Magnify Realty, and Barb is confident that he is the perfect fit to continue the impact that Lamoureux Real Estate has made on the community in the past 3-plus decades. "I think John is a naturally thoughtful person," Barb shares. "Since my son Chris left for a sunnier climate, finding someone who can keep the reputation at a high level by his work ethic is as close to having my Chris here as I could get."

Barb may be retiring from her real estate career, but she has no plans of slowing down anytime soon. "I have a ton of memories, knowledge, ideas, etc.," Barb says. "I do not think I can just go quietly into retirement. I would love my next years to be a help to others in business, and I would be very grateful to be able to help, share, and impart ideas, so keep my number!"

Huge thank you to Barb for all of her support over the years and the many ways she has contributed to our community.
