I’m developing a knack for covering all the Good Things of Everett before an upcoming anniversary. This time, the anniversary is being celebrated by Dr. Nolan Deatherage of Align Chiropractic, who is approaching 5 years in Everett. Dr. D, as he is affectionately known to his staff and patients, opened Align Chiropractic on August 17, 2020.

In practice since 2008, Dr. D is certified in Chiropractic Biophysics (CBP), a non-surgical realignment of the spine using adjustments, traction, and exercise. He is also certified in using impulse instruments (if you are familiar with an activator, that is the original, non-mechanical impulse instrument), he is trained in the Webster Technique for pregnant patients, the manual Gonstead technique, and he also uses the drop table technique. Instead of using a one-size-fits-all method, Dr. D mixes modalities to meet the needs of his patients.

Aside from his adjustment techniques, he brings traction and daily exercises into the fold. His correction plans combine all three aspects. He also conducts a visual exam and takes a set of X-rays at the start of treatment to better identify issues. Midway through a correction plan, he will visually examine your posture, identifying any progress using a fancy iPad app to compare current posture with the previous exam. And finally, at the end of the treatment plan, he will take a second and final set of X-rays to identify the progress from start to finish.

While we talked, he excitedly explained CPB to me: when your spine is out of alignment, it presses on nerves and restricts the flow of electrical impulses through your nervous system. When you realign your spine, that relieves the pressure on your nervous system and frees those electrical impulses, allowing your body to heal itself.

Over the years, I have seen many chiropractors, and only a few have listened to me and respected me; one even misdiagnosed me with arthritis in my neck. I’ve also personally known individuals who have been negatively (and in some cases, very permanently) affected by a chiropractic adjustment. Dr. D’s CBP technique and his ability to listen and respect my needs were major factors in my decision to seek treatment with him. I was told by one chiropractor that my neck would never regain its natural curve, but a correction plan and a final set of X-rays told a different story.

Dr. D is driven by a desire to help people. He is an excellent listener and makes sure he understands the patient’s situation and their treatment goals. He has assembled a great team to assist him. His Lead Chiropractic Assistant, Sierra, has worn all the hats in the office and currently resides at the front desk, eager to welcome you. She emphatically explained that chiropractic treatment is not for pain; it is to adjust your body back to its natural alignment. It is to fix the cause behind the pain.

Cirena is the office’s Chiropractic Assistant, Rehab and X-Ray Technician. Her favorite part about her job is seeing the progress in patients and knowing that she was there to help them reach their goals. Being able to help people feel better is very important to Cirena.

The office frequently holds raffles for car washes, sports tickets, and recently, they raffled off a flight around Mount Rainier. They also give back to their community by holding holiday gift drives, volunteering their time, and donating to charities.

Dr. Deatherage and his team have helped both me and the boyfriend relieve daily pain and regain full mobility. If you have any hesitation or concern about chiropractic treatment, you can trust Dr. D, Sierra, and Cirena to treat you with care and respect, and maybe a few jokes that are bound to make you groan.
