Sorticulture, Everett’s Garden Arts Festival Returns to Everett this Weekend!

Why Sorticulture is the Best Reason to Dig Around Downtown Everett This Weekend

It’s that time of year again, when Everett’s downtown streets transform into a lush, leafy wonderland of creativity, color, and compostable dreams. That’s right—Sorticulture is back, baby.

From Friday, June 6 through Sunday, June 8, our seaside city becomes the epicenter of all things green, gorgeous, and garden-inspired. Whether you’ve got a green thumb or just like to sniff flowers and buy cool stuff, this festival is basically Everett’s unofficial kickoff to summer.

Here’s what makes Sorticulture so special (and why you should definitely go):

🌸 Art Meets Dirt (In the Best Way Possible)

More than 120 garden artists and nurseries will line the streets from Everett Avenue to Pacific Avenue, showing off everything from trellises and topiaries to mosaics and metalwork. Expect the unexpected—like a fountain made from an old trumpet, or a birdhouse that could double as modern art.

🍷 Sip, Stroll, Repeat

Need a break from shopping? Head to Hewitt Avenue where the Everett Music Initiative is throwing a party inside the beer and wine garden. Sip something local while soaking up live music on the Sunnyside Nursery Main Stage. It’s basically a garden rave, but with better lighting and way more begonias.

🌿 Ciscoe Alert! (Ooh-la-la!)

If you know who Ciscoe Morris is, you’re already excited. If you don’t, just know he’s the Pacific Northwest’s most beloved gardening guru—and he’s coming to Sorticulture! Catch him at 1 p.m. on Sunday, June 8 at the Historic Everett Theatre. Expect laughs, learning, and possibly a shout of “Ooh-la-la!”

🧒 For the Little Sprouts

Sorticulture isn’t just for grown-ups. Imagine Children’s Museum and the Everett Public Library have set up youth activities, and the Schack Art Center is hosting art classes for all ages. Yes, there are scholarships. Yes, your kids will love it. Yes, you’ll finally get a moment to drink that cold brew in peace.

🌱 Learn a Little, Grow a Lot

Got garden questions? The WSU Master Gardeners are on hand with a plant clinic to help solve your plant dramas (RIP to last year’s tomato experiment). Plus, there are gardening classes and natural yard care booths for those who want to get serious about sustainable living.

🎹 Bonus Weird & Wonderful

Don’t miss the Street Tunes piano at Colby Avenue Tattoo. It’s random. It’s delightful. It might be the only time you’ll hear a jazz solo outside a tattoo parlor in your life.

🚍 Getting There is EasY

Sorticulture is free (yes, FREE) and Everett Transit is offering a free shuttle from Everett Station all weekend (details here). There’s even package pick-up, so you can shop like a garden-loving rockstar and not worry about hauling a concrete mushroom around downtown.

Bottom line: Sorticulture is pure Everett—creative, community-driven, and just a little offbeat (in the best way). Whether you’re a seasoned gardener or just here for the street food and vibes, it’s the perfect excuse to get outside, support local artists, and breathe in a little beauty.

See you downtown. We’ll be the ones juggling a flat of petunias and a churro.
