Everett Farmers Market Celebrates 30 Years; Opens Mother’s Day

We love the Everett Farmers Market. Did you know that in addition to opening for the season this Mother’s Day, Sunday May 14, the Farmers Market is celebrating its 30th year?

30 years.

Wow!

A Little History

The Everett Farmers Market first started in 1993.

According to the Farmers Market’s blog, the market was started by Marie Brayman just west of Eagle Hardware (now Lowe’s Home Improvement).

These farmers sure know how to grow things.

What started with just a few vendors has blossomed into one of the regions best Farmers markets, and one of Everett’s biggest attractions.

Just head to the market for opening day this Sunday to see for yourself.

5 Tips

Don’t worry if your ‘market season’ habits may be a little rusty. Here are 5 tips for shopping at the market from the Farmer’s Market Blog:

  1. Bring cash.

  2. Remember your reusable bags and food containers.

  3. Come with an open mind and a flexible list.

  4. As the saying goes, “Look with your eyes, not your hands.”

  5. Be respectful of producers’ time.

Peruse from blocks packed with farm fresh goods, flowers, food trucks, artisan’s and more. You can peruse the whole list of 2023 vendors here.

Fan Favorite

Fan favorite, Holly’s Meat Pies will be there this Sunday! We can attest to their deliciousness. Grab a few frozen meat pies (Meat and vegan options available) to help keep any perishables in your bag cold, and you can let the meat pies start thawing for dinner (or just throw them in the freezer when you get home). Whether you eat them now or later, they’ll be delicious all the same.

Sidewalk Hipster Blues\

You can also enjoy music at the Everett Farmers Market this weekend from blues busker extraordinaire, P.K. Dwyer from 12 - 2 pm.

Dwyer is recognized as the first to busk at the Pike Place Market in 1972 and has evolved into his own sound over the years; a style of music that has become known to his fans as Cosmic American Blues and Sidewalk Hipster Blues.

More Goodness and Mom

The Farmer’s Market makes for a great place to treat Mom to lunch from one of the many food trucks and food vendors. Or buy Mom a bouquet of beautiful fresh flowers. Or find her a unique gift. Or do all three!

Everett, of course, is also home to many other great dining, shopping, and activities. You can peruse our lunch and dinner guides for additional food ideas.

If you're looking for other local stores to find a gift for Mom, check out Grand Leader Mercantile, Burkett’s Home + Gifts, or Petrikor, just to name a few.

And if you’re looking for a little more exercise after the market, enjoy a stroll at the Everett waterfront, or visit Everett’s Evergreen Arboretum; which also has a large playground nearby if you have youngsters.

Whatever you get into this Mother’s Day- thanks to all the Moms out there and for everything you do. And congrats to the Everett Farmers Market on 30 years!

See you at the market!
