Sketchy Everett Vol. 37: Silver Lake

Editor’s note: Sketchy Everett is brought to you by Live in Everett Member McClain Insurance. Introductory words by McClain Insurance Founder, Claudia McClain.

I love the way Elizabeth Person has captured one of our team’s favorite Everett spots! She even included one of the eagles that frequents beautiful Silver Lake. (continued below)

All that shimmers is silver in the heart of south Everett when it comes to Silver Lake. With the spring season in full bloom, the city’s largest lake is a boon of recreational activity for visitors of all ages.

One of Silver Lake’s main attractions is its vibrant freshwater fishing. Whether you perch with tackle and bait along the expansive overwater boardwalk, amid the lakeside wetlands or in a small fishing boat on the lake, you might find yourself reeling in one of the lake's many piscine inhabitants such as triploid and rainbow trout.

Silver Lake has multiple parks – and its most popular is Thornton A. Sullivan Park. It offers access to a public sandy shore beach, a natural and scenic 9-hole disc golf course, a sprawling playground and large picnic areas. It’s the perfect place to spend a sunny afternoon with family and friends.

I viewed the flurry of activity at Silver Lake among the many walkers, joggers, runners, bicyclists and rollerbladers on the Silver Lake Trail. Half of the 2-mile trail runs along the lake’s shoreline before weaving and winding through nearby streets and neighborhoods. The City of Everett has exciting plans to give the trail a proper, fully paved and continuous path around the lake, which is sure to provide more access, entertainment and enjoyment for the local community. I look forward to making the complete lakeside loop when it’s ready next year!

Introduction by Claudia McClain continued …

The McClain Insurance team has a special connection to Silver Lake. We’ve sponsored Cinema Under the Stars for more than a decade and have fond memories of connecting with Everett families out for a fun summer night.

One of my family’s favorite Everett restaurants is Emory’s on Silver Lake. Nothing beats watching the sun set over the water while enjoying a delicious dinner or drinks on Emory’s deck. Our team has also participated in Emory’s annual fun run benefitting Beck’s Place. It’s a wonderful way to explore new parts of the lake.

Having spent many years enjoying Silver Lake, I can’t wait for the full trail around the lake to be developed! It will be Everett’s own Green Lake, but even better, in my humble opinion.

Thank you, Elizabeth, for shining a spotlight on one of my favorite Everett gems!
