Also, visit our Vegetation Management team to see if you can win a tree (drawings are at 10:45 am, 11:45 am, 12:45 pm and 1:15 pm), play the Salmon game inside the building, and make salt dough ornaments with our environmental team in the parking lot. 2024 Everett Reads: Into the Wilderness
Diane Cook will speak about her award-winning book “The New Wilderness” on Friday, May 17 at 7:00 p.m. at the Weyerhaeuser Room, Everett Station, 3201 Smith Avenue. Diane Cook is a critically acclaimed novelist and Booker Prize Finalist. Her book “The New Wilderness” is a Washington Post, NPR, and Buzzfeed 2020 Best Book of the Year and was shortlisted for the Booker Prize. “The New Wilderness” is a wildly imaginative debut novel of a mother’s battle to save her daughter in a world ravaged by climate change.
This event is free, and tickets are not required. Artisans PNW will have copies of the book for purchase at the event, and Diane Cook will be available for book signing after her presentation. Everett Reads is a community-wide reading initiative designed to deepen an appreciation of reading and unite the Everett community through conversation. Under the theme of Into the Wilderness, this year’s selection of authors and titles explore themes of climate change, nature, and survival. Community members are encouraged to read “The New Wilderness”; copies are available to check out at both library locations.

Dr. Finney, the renowned author of “Black Faces, White Spaces,” brings to the forefront the often-unheard voices and experiences of African-Americans in environmental spaces. The Dance School Presents: I Love to Dance
FREE EVENT! This annual student showcase gives The Dance School's students a chance to choreograph their own original routine to a song of their choice. This performance allows students to assume the roles of dancer and choreographer in developing choreography, improvisation, directing, and performance skills to produce and perform original routines for the community.
Our 2024 I Love to Dance performance is supported, in part, by a grant from the City of Everett. This event is free and we welcome all members of the community to join us for a fun evening of dance.
