Yessss Falafel!: South Everett’s Gyros Plus
Gyro Shack used to be my go-to gyro place because their drive-through on Evergreen Way was so convenient. They are now closed, but it turns out I have an even more convenient place to pick up gyros right in south Everett where I live.
A friend recently recommended Gyros Plus which is located on the busy northwest corner of Evergreen Way and Casino Road. Something I take into account when I consider convenience is parking lot access and even at the busy corner it is easy to get in and out because there is a stoplight at the west side of the parking lot.

Gyros Plus is on GrubHub so I went online to look at the menu. Yessss falafel! I love falafel and haven’t found good falafel since I stopped working in Seattle so the falafel wrap was added to my order. But since I was checking out a gyro place, I added a lamb and beef gyro wrap to my order too.
My 11-year old does not like gyros. I don’t know what isn’t to like about them, but I offered to get him a cheeseburger that was on the menu. I appreciate it when restaurants offer something that will make everyone in the family happy. He didn’t want a cheeseburger either so I ordered him hummus and pita bread. Add in some fruit and carrots from home and you have a well-balanced meal, right? And since I was going all in, I ordered greek fries too.
I unpacked my three meals worth of food and had to start with the falafel wrap. The first thing I noticed is that there was way more lettuce, cucumber, tomatoes and onions than Gyro Shack gyros so it took a couple of bites to get to the falafel. It did not disappoint. The flavors were delicious and it was fried a perfect brown. I have a hard time finding falafel that I like because if it is too dark, tastes burnt to me. I ate about a third of my falafel wrap and moved on to the next course.

The lamb and beef gyro wrap again had more vegetables than I was expecting but it was not too much. The meat was very flavorful but thicker cut than I am used to but because it was so tender the thickness did not bother me at all. It was very good with that garlicky-gyro flavoring that stays with you until you brush your teeth.
My son dug into the pita bread and hummus. We got two full pieces of pita bread that I cut into eighths and a full-size container of hummus. The pita bread was fresh and soft like you’d expect and the hummus was good, but not particularly notable.

The Greek fries were an Americanized version with crinkle-cut fries topped with feta cheese and tzatziki so don’t expect more traditional deep-crusted hand-cut fries. They were tasty nonetheless.

My subsequent meals of leftovers were also good. It is important to deconstruct the wraps to take the vegetables off before you put them in the refrigerator. You can put the wrap in foil and heat it in the oven at 350 degrees for 25 or so minutes then add the vegetables when you are ready to eat.
There are so many more things to try including shish kabob shawarma wraps. And the veggie gyro and some of the salads. I might even need to try the pistachio baklava next time too. Needless to say, I’ll definitely be going back to Gyros Plus.
