Out of the Way and Out of this World: Everett’s Best Hidden Eats

Editor’s Note: Originally published March 29, 2021.

Whether you're staying home due to the pandemic or just being efficient, finding great food while running errands always feels like a huge win. And there's more out there than Costco chicken bakes and Home Depot hot dogs. Gas up, grab groceries and get some dinner to go.

EVERGREEN ASIAN MARKET

7815 Evergreen Way | Everett, WA 98203

The Asian section at each of the major grocery chains has grown to a pretty impressive size over the past decade, but it's only for shelf-stable items. If you want fresh vegetables and herbs, frozen foods, and even housewares to go with it, you should just go to an Asian grocery store. Evergreen Asian Market has all the ingredients you need, plus a to-go counter with bubble tea, banh mi, and roast duck and pig. Look for sides, snacks, and desserts, too.

PACIFIC MARKET

9605 Evergreen Way Ste. B | Everett, WA 98204

We're fortunate in Everett to have two impressive Asian grocery stores, and Pacific Market has an incredible prepared foods area. Look for bun thit nuong (vermicelli noodle salad) in clear plastic containers, rice cakes and fried rice wrapped in cellophane, and a huge hot bar. Such a large variety of grab-and-go items is rare, and it's a great way to try them out as a possible catering option when we're finally having parties again.

TETO'S SUPERMARKET & TAQUERIA

11120 Evergreen Way Ste. C | Everett, WA 98204

There are lots of excellent food options at the strip mall at 112th and Evergreen Way, including great Mexican from the grill inside Teto's Supermarket. You can get five tacos for $10.99, which is plenty to share, but you probably won't want to. Look for an ever-expanding selection of Brazilian treats, too.

SUPER TACO

1020 SE Everett Mall Way | Everett, WA 98208

Good gas station food is the ultimate convenience, and Super Taco offers up huge portions from inside the Chevron station by the mall. The food's delicious, they're very popular, and I have no idea how they keep up during the lunch rush. But they do! It's always good to have options, and they share a drive-through with Street Coffee & Bagels, which also has a walk-up window.

CASA EL DORADO TORTILLA FACTORY

205 E Casino Rd Ste. B12 | Everett, WA 98208

They say once you've tried El Dorado tortillas, there's no going back to any other brand. Since you'll be there anyway, you may as well grab lunch or dinner. It's not a huge menu, but it's got pictures and everything looks great.

SNO-ISLE FOOD CO-OP

2804 Grand Ave | Everett, WA 98201

You don't have to be a member to shop at the co-op, and you don't even have to buy groceries there if you want to eat. The small seating area is easy to miss but a great spot to enjoy a juice, smoothie, sandwich, or wrap from the deli. Get yours made to order or have anything you find pre-made heated up. Don't forget they have lots of other pre-made choices in the store so you can skip the work later at home, too.
