From Italy to Everett: Luca Italian Restaurant & Wine Bar

When I learned a new high-end Italian restaurant opened in Everett I was eager to go check it out. My wife has a culinary degree in French and Italian cuisine and we enjoy cooking and eating food of all kinds. It’s one of the many activities that we do for fun.

Antipasto Misto // James Fields

Luca opened up in July after extensive remodeling of an older Italian restaurant in the same location (Chianti). The first time we tried to visit Luca was a Monday, and we arrived and realized they’re closed on Mondays. The second time we made sure to check the schedule and arrived right as they opened at 5 pm. 

The service was prompt and attentive. We started our meal with an Antipasto Misto - a platter of cured Italian meats, olives, cheese, and some figs. Our server informed us that all of these ingredients had been imported directly from Italy. Biting into the olives sent my taste buds back to a trip I made to Rome twenty years ago. It’s amazing how food can bring back memories! The ratio of meat to cheese on this plate heavily favored the meat, and while we loved the taste of it all, we would have loved a bit more than three bites of mozzarella.

For our main course, my wife got the Ravioli Al’Aragosta (lobster ravioli), and I got the fish of the day (salmon). The lobster ravioli was amazing, covered in a creamy, delicious sauce. It was quickly devoured.

My salmon was also good, but the highlight of my dish was very surprisingly the vegetable side. The carrot medley with green beans, potatoes, and brussel sprouts was so good I couldn’t stop eating it. It’s very rare for me to want to finish my vegetables!

We enjoyed the experience so much that we opted to continue it by getting dessert. We ordered Panna Cotta, which was rich and delicious. It came garnished with a raspberry sauce, mint, and grapes. The panna cotta itself was vanilla flavored, and the taste delighted the tongue like eating the highest quality vanilla ice cream.

Luca’s is also a wine bar and these dishes would definitely pair quite beautifully with some good wine.

If you’re looking for a fancy date night location, definitely give Luca’s a try. With all the work that’s gone into launching this new restaurant and the high-quality ingredients in their dishes, I’m certain Luca’s will be part of the Everett fine dining experience for a long time to come. Just make sure to check their schedule before you head over there; you don’t want to miss out like I did!
