The Sisters Restaurant is Open Again: Welcome Back!

Phew! False alarm. The Sisters Restaurant is officially reopened, friends!

Serving Everett since 1983, The Sisters is a long-time favorite for many locals, including myself. It was a go-to weekly breakfast spot for me and my friends for a number of years. I loved their buttermilk hotcakes so much that eventually Thursdays simply became “pancake day” for me.

Fast forward, though, and during the course of Covid, similar to the Strawberry Patch Cafe, The Sisters closed down. The only difference was, rumor had it that The Sisters was closing for good.

It was a sad day when I heard that news.

But thankfully rumors of the official closing were proved wrong after a family member decided to step up and keep the beloved restaurant running.

After about a 6 month closure, The Sisters opened for takeout on May 31 of this year and reopened the dining room later in June.

Fresh touches were added to the space such as new paint and wainscoting in the dining room. But don’t worry, the restaurant still maintains its quirky charm, with eclectic furniture, wood floors that creak with history, and musical instruments suspended in the air.

Oh yes, and the menu received a facelift as well. There’s a few new items and other changes, but the same level of quality The Sisters is known for.

I took my toddler for a recent lunch visit. As soon as we walked in I felt a strong sense of comfort, like bumping into a dear long-lost friend. It was good to be back.

I was tickled to see The Sisters’ secret weapon behind the counter taking orders. Burt Clements, AKA the greatest order-taker East of Jetty Island.

Burt handed me a brontosaurus for our table marker. As I explained to my toddler, “the toy..”

“This is not a toy!” Burt interjected. It’s a high-tech table marking device!”

As always, Burt managed to make me laugh while ordering.

Another change we noticed as we found a table in the busy dining room were new large-format black and white photographs of “The Sisters” family members.

I got the salmon burger (see header photo) which came with a side salad. It was fresh and tasty. I loved how soft the bun was. It totally hit the spot. The Sisters always reminds me of good home cooking.

My toddler went for the grilled cheese, which she ate all of except for the crust (do any toddlers ever eat their crust?). She deemed the tomato soup that it came with as being “too spicy!” Which meant more tasty food for me to enjoy (it really wasn’t very spicy).

I noticed The Sisters no longer does a single hotcake for breakfast like what I used to always get. But they do have a short stack of hotcakes that comes with two. I’m definitely going to have to stop by to try more of the new options.

And don’t forget their delicious homemade desserts. From pies to cookies, and more.

If you haven't been to The Sisters since they reopened, do yourself a favor and go say hi. And if you’re never been, then you’re in for a treat. Just remember, they’re only open weekdays for breakfast and lunch.

But they are open. Officially.
