Everett’s Top 5 New Businesses of 2021

2021 was not a popular year for starting a business (understandably). Yet, by the grace of these cool cats, Everett still earned itself some nice new offerings this last year. Here are 5 of our favorite businesses that opened in Everett in 2021.

Catalyst Cafe

Why not kick things off with a catalyst? Catalyst Cafe had its soft opening in 2021, and they’re official grand opening just this week. Located in North Everett’s Bayside neighborhood, Catalyst is serving up coffee, pastries and sandwiches, with community in mind. Owner AJ Gearhart has created Catalyst to be a safe and welcoming space for all, with a particular fondness for the LGBTQ+ community.

Lucky Dime

Guess who got lucky in 2021? Everett, WA. That’s who! It’s not every year Everett scores a new music venue/beer bar/art gallery. Taking over the former Black Lab Gallery space in downtown Everett, local artists Alex and Amber Vincini have brought a fresh vibe to town with this all ages, bring your own food and dog-friendly space. But don’t worry if you get hungry, they do have snacks including pepperoni sticks for a dollar.

Delicias Azteca

That pepperoni stick from Lucky Dime didn’t fill ya up? Tootle down the street to Everett’s newest Mexican restaurant, Delicias Azteca. Occupying the former Sol Food location on Hewitt Ave in downtown Everett, Delicias’ friendly staff is serving up delicious and fresh grub with a full bar to boot.

Cafe Diedrich

The next stop on our list is Everett Station. Not for the train, but for Everett’s newest coffee shop! Cafe Diedrich is Diedrich Espresso’s first indoor location with seating (their many other locations are drive-throughs). Bonus points, South Fork Bakery has set up shop as the in-house baker. Okay, we’ve got our coffee and treats, time to leave the station, and cruise down to South Everett.

Flying Squirrel

Last on our list, but far from least, Flying Squirrel opened their doors in 2021. Well, actually because of Covid they could only open their fun-filled bouncy house paradise outside over the summer. But they now have their new indoor location open in the former Toys ‘R Us space on Everett Mall Way. From bucking squirrels to climbing walls, and well-probably loads more at this point. It’s on our list to go check out everything the new interior location has to offer. Stay tuned!
