Art Galleries, Open Mics, Karaoke and More: There’s Something for Everyone in Everett

Art is part of every great culture and community, and we are no different in our corner of the Pacific Northwest. Everyone is creative in some way or another - some of us are exceptionally skilled with the written word, whereas others are gifted in music and song.

Even more are talented in the visual arts - dabbling in sculpture, glass, mixed media, and (like myself) painting. So whether you are someone who likes to share your creative side with the public or prefer to take on a supporting role, Everett has many dives that cater to a variety of artistic interests.

Poetry & Book Readings

Everett Poetry Night is every Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at The Sisters Restaurant (soon to be every Monday, starting on July 11, 2022). This “premier poetic outlet” has been active since 2006 and offers space for community members to share their poems, songs, and written word.

Ghost Mic is a poetry meet-up every Sunday (weather permitting) until October at Legion Memorial Park in North Everett. People start arriving around 5:30, and the first poet starts at 5:45.

Don’t forget about the local library! While there are no book readings scheduled right now, there will be soon!

Open Mic & Karaoke

The woman-owned Black Lab Gallery regularly hosts Open Mic on Wednesdays from 6:30 - 10 PM and karaoke on Thursdays starting at 8 PM. There is no cover for performing or watching AND, if that wasn’t enough, you get to check out some cool art from local artists while enjoying the music.

At the Port Gardner Bay Winery, you can enjoy a glass of wine (or two!) while listening to music from Thursday to Saturday. Thursdays are Open Mic from 6:30 - 9:30 p.m., and Friday and Saturdays have live music from 7 - 9 p.m. . There is no cover, and there is always popcorn to snack on (and a pup named Popcorn to say hello to!). The owners, Chris and Linnea, also work with a curator to show diverse artists from Everett and the surrounding area.

Rocko’s Fireside Bar & Grill is all about the music! For no cover, they host Open Mic on Wednesdays starting at 7 PM, live and local bands on Friday starting at 9 PM, and karaoke on Saturdays.

O’Finnigans Pub in South Everett hosts karaoke every day starting at 9:30 p.m. They also regularly have game tournaments, live music, and dancing!

Check Live in Everett's Karaoke Guide to find some fun karaoke spots!

Art Showings

Most are familiar with the Schack Art Center - a gallery on Hoyt with rotating exhibitions, featured artists, classes for the public, and other community events.

The Lucky Dime (also on Hewitt) is an art gallery that hosts live music on Fridays and Saturdays (doors open at 7 p.m.) and is open for beer and wine on Wednesdays from 5 p.m. until midnight. They also rent their space for parties, events, jam sessions, and music videos.

The Zamarama Gallery on Colby was opened in 2012 and has hosted rotating artist exhibitions since then, bringing a variety of art styles to Everett. Zamarama also features singers/songwriters performances in the gallery on occasion.

Everett Improv has its Makers Market and Art Party every third Thursday of the month from 4 to 10 p.m. People of all ages can watch artists create or make their own art (for a $20 fee)

Artisans PNW is known for selling goods from local artisans. They also feature community artists - choosing six artists every year to display their art in the shop and classroom, as well as supporting artists selling their work during Everett art events

The Everett Art Walk offers a free way to peruse local artists within the downtown area every third Thursday of the month.

The Everett community is a creative and generous one, with so many people willing to share their artistic talents. There are also many ways to join in to show your support for the arts here. So next time you’re thinking of going out, check out some of these cool spots (double-checking the dates and times of events first) to share in the creativity - whether you are a performer or an observer.
