The Very Best French Dip In Town

No doubt about it, every taste-centric review is by its very nature subjective. But I feel no qualms about planting my feet firmly on the Live in Everett-supplied soapbox to proclaim that the Vintage Café delivers the most tasty, most hearty, most delicious French Dip (Vintage Dip as it’s called on their menu) sandwich in the downtown Everett core.

I’ve tried as many of these iconic sandwiches as I could find in the nearby area. While none of them were offensive in any way, in fact it’s relatively hard to convince me that a French dip tastes bad, I always found myself longing for the reliable deliciousness that can only be found at the Vintage.

It will surprise no one when I add that the Vintage Café itself is part of the draw. The hint of risqué history the walls would surely tell if they could talk. The friendly and efficient waitstaff. The wily collection of old-timers and regulars sidled up to the bar.

All of these elements combine to deliver the ideal locale in which to order and enjoy a perfectly balanced combo of French roll that stands up to dipping, well-seasoned, slow-roasted beef, just the right amount of melted cheddar cheese, au jus that can’t be beat, and your choice of crispy fries or side salad.

Want to taste test for yourself?

The Vintage Café is easy to find. It’s on Hewitt, conveniently kitty-corner to the public parking lot. Once there you’ll want to order the Vintage Dip ($10.99) off the lunch menu.

Other places nearby to find a tasty French dip are Petit Sweet (admittedly my husband’s favorite place for a French Dip), and the Strawberry Patch Café.

Report in if you’ve got other hot French dip tips. We’re always on the lookout for one to unseat the Vintage. Bring on the contenders!
