We’re super thankful to our Live in Everett Members - local organizations who have stepped up to help make Live in Everett possible. One of those organizations is Kushman’s, a cannabis dispensary in South Everett (plus locations in Mukilteo and Lynnwood). Kristina Franklin has been managing Kushman’s since 2016. We caught up with Kristina to learn more about what Kushman’s is all about.
WHAT IS YOUR MISSION?
Since Kushman’s opened in 2016, we have committed to putting the customer first. This starts with our knowledgeable budtenders who are passionate about educating and helping our customers. Our budtenders continuously expand their knowledge so they can educate our customers about safe cannabis consumption, correct dosing and give the best customer service possible.
At Kushman’s, we strive to bring you the best products at the lowest prices in King and Snohomish counties. We carry some of the best producers in the state such as: Paradise Valley, Rocket, Creekside, Gold Leaf, Aurum Farms, Doghouse, Smokey Point Production, Doc & Yeti, Lifted Cannabis, Green Haven, Northwest Cannabis Solutions, Legends, Oleum, Dabstract and more!

WHAT'S YOUR FAVORITE THING ABOUT YOUR ORGANIZATION OR WHAT YOU DO?
Kushman’s understands the importance of giving back to the community we do business in. We volunteer to help clean up schools, attend city council meetings, donate to multiple Everett nonprofits, i.e. ChildStrive, Snohomish Economic Alliance and Leadership Snohomish County. We want to be accepted as a legitimate local business that cares about the community we do business in.
WHAT IS THE MOST CHALLENGING THING YOUR ORGANIZATION HAS HAD TO OVERCOME?
The biggest challenge Kushman’s, as well as all retail marijuana shops, has had to overcome was the stigma of marijuana. Though used for thousands of years by many cultures as medicine, people believed marijuana to be as bad as heroin, due to the constant propaganda the united states published.
Luckily in the past 20 years, we have been able to research and test marijuana and learn about its medical benefits. Since Washington state made marijuana legal, more people have been educated and are more open to the medical benefits of marijuana.
The other issue we have had to face is the idea we are always trying to market to youth. There are many laws we have to abide by that no other industry does due to the government being worried about our industry going after youth. We understand, and always have, the importance of keeping any drug out of the hands of kids and will continue to work with our government to protect them.

FAVORITE THING YOU'VE DONE TO GIVE BACK TO THE COMMUNITY?
Last year, employees from each of our stores got together to help clean up elementary schools in the Westmont-Holly neighborhood.
WHAT CAN EVERETT EXPECT FROM YOU IN THE FUTURE?
The residents of Everett can expect to see Kushman’s at more community events. We are always looking for ways to volunteer and give back to our city.
