Ahoy, Matey! Exploring Silver Lake’s New Playground
Late last summer, the city of Everett completed the new and improved playground at Thornton A. Sullivan Park on Silver Lake.
Not to be confused with the other playground (Hauge Homestead Park) on the South side of Silver Lake, Thornton A. Sullivan is the larger park (35 acres) on the West Side of the lake. It also offers a frisbee golf course, a large beach, and now—a vast new playground.
With Spring and better weather approaching, we figured we'd share a few shots of the new playground in case you haven’t made it yet.

The playground is huge, with many options for kids of all ages. The ground is super soft, almost like walking on trampolines.
When we visited after the opening at the end of last summer, it was quite busy. The zip line held a steady line and appeared to be one of the more popular features.

The large boat can hold several kids and will rock back and forth with enough weight applied, a fitting touch for the lakeside attraction.
Of course, there is no shortage of the classics: swings, climbing things, spinning things, and everything else a kid could need to get their wiggles out.
Between Forest Park’s playground remodel a few years back, and Emma Yule Park that opened in 2022, the city’s playground options have been getting increasingly remarkable. What a wonderful thing to invest in quality places for kids to play, have fun, and make friends.
