Live in Everett’s newest member is J. Donovan Smith Creative, owned by visual storyteller JD Smith. He started his company in 2018 after leaving the corporate world when he “jumped head first without one client and hit the ground running.” Here’s more about JD and his company.
What’s your mission?
J. Donovan Smith Creative, LLC (JDS Creative) strives to improve the visibility of small, medium, and large businesses that seek to have deeper consumer impact in an authentic way, through visual communication (including videography, graphic design, and photography). We help our clients connect with their customers by showing their customers who they are and what they do through authenticity, integrity, creativity and professionalism.
Why should people choose you? Or, what makes you different?
When clients hire us, they hire us based on a proven record of communicating their message to their intended audience. They also know we listen to what their needs are, and involve them in the process to produce their product. From the first meeting, our creative juices start to kick into gear. Every aspect of collaborating provides the assets we need to produce a product that gets results - guaranteed!
Why did you choose Everett?
Everett is a small city rich with history and has a community like no other.
What's your favorite thing about your organization or what you do?
Hands down, it’s the relationships we have with our clients. Most of the clients we have are now friends. The trust they have in my company is what pushes me to do/be the best I can do/be.
What is the most challenging thing your organization has had to overcome?
In mid-year 2020, businesses had to make changes and start producing videos on their own. It seemed everyone started to do their own videos. It was difficult at first, but I knew our skills and abilities in producing videos would prevail because of the attention to detail and video production skills that stand out.
Anything you wish more locals knew about your organization?
I love educating my clients on what we do. I believe if more companies knew the quality of work that goes into their product and them getting more visibility from it, then they would want to know more about how we add value to them and solve their pain points.
Your most important values?
Creativity. Authenticity. Transparency. Having Fun!
Favorite thing you've done to give back to the community?
Involvement in community events. It’s great to build relationships with people and businesses in the city we live in. For example, shooting photography for the Everett Music Initiative’s Fisherman’s Village Music Festival.
What can Everett expect from you in the future?
Everett can expect JDS Creative to be one of the top creative agencies that businesses can rely on for any visual communication needs because JDS Creative is empathetic and authentic.
What's your favorite thing about Everett?
Hands down the relationships between individuals and businesses in the community. There are so many great people here who have become great friends (besides the rich history Everett has to offer!)
Favorite place to eat in Everett?
The Madison Avenue Pub - they have very good food and large portions, plus their staff makes you feel like they are there for you!
