There are few things more universally agreeable than a trip to Hawaii. It's the game show prize everyone would be thrilled to win: somewhere hot and sunny, fun and friendly, with sandy beaches and delicious food everywhere you go. If it's been too long since you last went or you just didn't have room in your bag for all the treats you wanted to bring back, you're in luck. The fantastic themed gift shop Colors of Hawaii recently opened in Everett.
Owner Cyndi Pa (who you can call Aunty Cyndi) got her start when a friend convinced her to rent a small stall in the red barn on 91st Ave in Lake Stevens. As a self-proclaimed garage sale queen, Aunty Cyndi was able to quickly curate an array of interesting collectibles and treasures. She soon realized that there are lots of thrift and antique stores in the area but there wasn't a Hawaiian gift shop. It was a hit, and she eventually expanded to take up the entire barn.
After the owner sold the red barn, Aunty Cyndi looked all over Snohomish County but was drawn to a vacant space at 19th and Broadway with great visibility and lots of daily passersby. You'll still find used books, DVDs, and other items around the shop alongside Hawaiian art, gifts, and treats. Is there something you like from Hawaii that isn't in the shop? She'll order it for you. And if you're shopping for an out-of-town friend, she ships to the rest of the USA. But don't forget to check the freezer and fridge for Portuguese sausage, desserts, and fresh poke for yourself.
Keep an eye on the Colors of Hawaii Facebook page so you know when Aunty Cyndi has a batch of fresh leis available or is planning an event where you'll get to try her plate lunches. If you don't want to wait, she's available for catering and custom floral orders. There's no reason to wait for a special occasion, though. Stop by any time for treats and treasures from this truly wonderful addition to North Everett.
