Everett Itinerary: Downtown Shopping Guide

This story is brought to you by Live in Everett Member, Lamoureux Real Estate.

Got guests coming in from out of town? New to Everett? Can’t remember what we used to do before the pandemic started?

We are kicking off a series for out of towners, newbie neighbors and for those of us who just forgot what we used to do pre-2020.

Here’s my itinerary for friends and family who like to shop.

Downtown Everett is the best destination for shopping but you’ll need to plan for parking. There is a limit of 2 hours on weekdays so you may need to move your car if you’re planning a long day. Parking is available at the Everpark Garage for $1 an hour up to $10 for the day. If you’re planning an evening or weekend visit, parking is free.

Once parked, the next thing to do is fuel up with breakfast at Narrative Coffee. My favorite thing on the menu is a Biscuit by Itself because I love Narrative’s biscuits and a cappuccino which is the Espresso+6oz Hot on the menu. They’ll make it larger for you if you ask.

Next, it’s time to hit the shops.

Home & Kitchen

J. Matheson’s has been the go-to gift shopping spot in Everett for 30 years. They have a wide selection of items for the kitchen, garden, and traveling. There’s jewelry, clothing and a section of items for babies and children. There’s even a section with things to make traveling more comfortable and a thoughtful selection of gifts for men.

Jana's Favorite Finds is a fun shop with a mix of new and vintage items. You’ll find things for your garden and some great home decor.

Grand Leader Mercantile is located in a beautiful historic building that was a dry goods and department store called Grand Leader Mercantile at the turn of the 20th century. It’s been revamped with a fresh look and offers vintage, apparel, and modern home decor.

Toys and Games

As I mentioned above, J. Matheson’s has a great section for babies and children. You’d be hard-pressed to not find a perfect gift at J. Matheson’s.

The Best Puzzles and Gifts is packed with just about any kind of puzzle you could want plus a whole lot more. This shop is run by Bob Riggs and he has young twin grandkids to help him decide what to purchase for the shop.

Imagine Children’s Museum offers high-quality, time-tested toys and games. If you visit the museum, you’ll find many of them set up for guests to play with.

Women’s Clothing

Downtown Everett has a couple of high-quality women’s clothing shops. Burkett’s and Renee’s have both been around a long time so you know you can count on them for the newest fashion trends.

You might be ready for lunch at this point and Cafe Wylde gets my pick. I love their Pesto Pasta made with zucchini noodles. The amount of bold flavor packed into that dish is mind-blowing. They have a lot of great drink options, but I think a glass of Sauvignon Blanc would pair perfectly with faux pasta.

Thrift Shopping

If you like busting bargains, the Goodwill is a favorite place for thrifters. New and Again Thrift Store is another option where proceeds from sales go to support Domestic Violence services of Snohomish County.

Specialty Shops

Chai Cupboard, offering a wide selection of bulk loose leaf teas and spices, is one of Everett’s newest shops.

Even if you aren’t a fan of pop culture collectibles, stop at Funko’s flagship store in what at one time used to be The Bon Marche’ (before it changed to Macy’s). The space is decked out with massive displays including Disney, Gotham with a full-size Batmobile, Harry Potter and Star Wars.

Entry to Schack Art Center is free so stop in to see the current exhibit and don’t miss the gift shop on the way out. It is filled with beautiful locally made art, home goods and jewelry.

If you’re still around at dinner time, my favorite restaurant is Chianti. It’s a great classic Italian restaurant and I love their Spaghetti alla Carbonara, because yum!

That’s a wrap on a perfect day of shopping in downtown Everett. Did I miss anything? Let me know in the comments.
