Dear Strawberry Patch: It’s Good to See You Again

Dear Strawberry Patch, we thought you were gone.

And thank goodness, turns out we were wrong.

After being closed for the pandemic, Strawberry Patch Cafe is back. With new keto and Asian fusion menus to boot!

I first fell in love with Strawberry Patch Cafe about a decade ago. At that time, the ‘80s interior was untouched. It had a time capsule vibe that felt both dated and charming.

Since then, ownership changed. Tasteful and fun updates were made, including awesome additions to the menu.

Their ‘Hot Lil Biscuit’ became one of my favorites. So I was super bummed when I realized  Strawberry Patch Cafe had closed during the pandemic, which is why they were excluded from our Breakfast Sandwich Round-up. Otherwise, they totally would have been included … just look at that yummy photo from our 2017 visit for Live in Everett TV.

Excited for Strawberry Patch Cafe to be back open, I recently called in a lunch order. I opted for something on the menu I had never tried before, their Totrito. A tater tot breakfast burrito.

“We’ll have it ready in 10 minutes,” I was told over the phone. 10 minutes? That’s quick!

And sure enough, it was ready to go when I arrived.

The burrito was massive.

I knew I wouldn’t be able to eat it all, so I cut it in half when I got home. It was still hot, and the greatest smell of cheesy-tater-tot-veggie-oooey-gooey-goodness was unleashed as soon as I sliced in.

The smell was appetizing in itself.

One of my challenges with eating out is I’m an aspiring-recovering-meat-eater, and I still struggle to find vegetarian options at restaurants that leave me satisfied. The Totrito fit the bill perfectly, though. A flour tortilla stuffed full of scrambled eggs, onion, bell pepper, tomato, cheddar cheese, and of course, tater tots. Plus a side of pico de gallo. Yum.

This delicious blend hit the spot so well, I happily had half for lunch and the other half for dinner.

My wife wasn’t too happy when she found out I visited Strawberry Patch Cafe without bringing home a cinnamon roll, though.

Oh darn. Another excuse to visit!

I happily brought home a cinnamon roll a couple days later to share. Strawberry Patch Cafe was also closed when we did our Cinnamon Roll Round-up, so it was good to do some more research.

This gem held its own. With brioche bread, cream cheese in the frosting, and a good amount of cinnamon. The frosting was a bit sweet on its own, but together everything blended perfectly.

The perfect blend.

That’s what I like about the Strawberry Patch. The food. The service. The decor. The prices. The menu. The history.

This place blends them all well, with just the right amount of deliciousness and quirkiness.

Dear Strawberry Patch,

We’re glad you’re back!
