Eggs, Bacon, and Bowling? Try Breakfast at a Bowling Alley

I was practically born in a bowling alley, having spent most of my childhood in them regularly because my mom worked in several and my whole family bowled in leagues. It's been years since I bowled a game, but I still love going to them. The vibe is always friendly, and the constant sound of pins being knocked over is oddly satisfying. That's why I love going to breakfast at bowling alleys, and we're lucky to have two to choose from in Everett.

When you enter the restaurant at Glacier Lanes, there's a big bright restaurant to the right and a cozy dark lounge to your left. The restaurant side is very popular and has been almost full every time I've been by, even on a recent Thursday morning. My husband Garrett and I prefer the lounge; it's quieter, which I know sounds weird when talking about a bowling alley.

Our last time there, Garrett had the taco omelet with O'Brien potatoes and wheat toast, and I had the Hash Brown Supreme, which is a full plate of hash browns (or O'briens) covered with cheese, bacon bits, and onions. I added the optional toast and eggs, and was surprised when they brought out the thickest sourdough toast I've ever seen.

Garrett really liked his omelet, but wished his potatoes were crisper, a common issue with restaurant O'Briens in our experience. My hash browns were very tasty and I definitely recommend getting the eggs and toast, even though it's a lot of food. Without them, a full plate of hash browns, even supreme ones, lacks variety.

Its location on Evergreen near Casino Road, Holly Drive, and 4th Avenue West makes Glacier Lanes easy to get to from all over, perfect for meeting up with friends. Breakfast is served all day with specials available until 11 a.m. weekdays and noon weekends. Want to bowl? Check out Breakfast and Bowl Thursdays from 7-11 a.m. Three games of bowling plus a breakfast special for $9.50, shoe rental is extra.

EVERGREEN LANES
5111 Claremont Way

It's easy to miss the entrance to the lounge at Evergreen Lanes. If you reach the strangely divided restaurant, you've gone a little too far. The lounge is more interesting, with a table-height bar the bartender steps down to get behind, and padded booth walls that reach the ceiling. I'm also happy to report they've toned down the lighting, which I found far too bright during previous visits.

The breakfast menu is very similar to Glacier's, but Evergreen offers half portions of the omelets for $2 off. The smaller size is just right. Garrett picked the half-size Italian while I went for the half vegetarian, and we repeated our potato and toast options.

We've always liked Evergreen a little more than Glacier, and Garrett ordered O'Briens again as a test. They passed, consistently crisp with a few pieces even approaching burnt, which he said is definitely preferable to soft ones. I loved the variety of vegetables in my omelet and my sourdough toast was buttered perfectly.

Evergreen also has a Breakfast and Bowling special Tuesday-Thursday from 7-11 a.m. Get three games of bowling including shoe rental, plus a breakfast special for $9.99.

Be sure to check out everything else going on at both bowling alleys while you're there. Besides league bowling, you can find other discounted bowling sessions, glow-in-the-dark bowling with music, and even chances to win money. And don't forget to try their lunch, happy hour, and dinner too.
