THE EVENT

Music YoU-FEST is a free music therapy event that anyone can participate in. It’s for all ages and abilities and will be held at the Northwest Music Hall on Saturday, March 23 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

The four-hour event offers twelve therapeutic workshops where participants can learn how to do things like play a ukulele, write a song, explore new instruments, jam out, or learn how music contributes to mindfulness.

These learning-based workshops are for people of all skill levels. Everyone is welcome at Music YoU-FEST, from toddler to grandparents. Come expecting to explore the world of music and leave with a better understanding of your own capacity for creativity.

As part of this event, the Everett Mall will host a scavenger hunt with raffle prizes. Prizes include tickets to the Seattle Aquarium and Imagine Children’s Museum, memorabilia from the Seattle Mariners, and other items from local businesses.

Other festival activities will include a photo booth, snacks, and tours of the Northwest Music Hall.

MUSIC THERAPY

Music therapy isn’t just about making music. It’s an evidence-based approach to building social skills, emotional intelligence, and increased range of motion.

Music is a complex means of communication and can have a profound positive effect on people.

The Music-YoU FEST has been held annually for four years, though this is the second year it appears with the Music-YoU name. It’s created and hosted by the Snohomish County Music Project.
