Everett’s Best of 2019: Favorite New Things

There’s a lot of exciting things in Everett, but there’s always something extra exciting about something new in town. With 2019 winding down, we thought we’d share a few of our favorite new things that came to Everett in 2019.

TheLab@everett

TheLab@everett opened at the very beginning of 2019. Or was it late 2018? Regardless, this incubator for entrepreneurs and makers brings a ton of resources to town. From free lectures, to co-working, a makers space, design thinking lab, and so much more. We’re excited to have them here and can’t wait to see what great startups and inventions get birthed at The Lab.

Houseplants Galore

I’m not sure how many dedicated house plant stores are out there, but we certainly didn’t have one in Everett. Not until Houseplants Galore opened their doors in 2019. This specialty retailer in South Everett brings a fresh offering and expertise to town. I dig it, and plant people- they definitely dig it.

Everett Improv

We’ve been a fan of Everett Improv for a while. Run by local improv pro, Britney Barber, they got their own dedicated space this year. We now have a dedicated venue for improv classes year round. That’s pretty… umm.. shoot.. I need to improvise a last sentence for this paragraph… I guess I better go sign up for an improv class.

Paine Field

Everett’s loftiest new addition of the year- we got an airport! Propeller Airports opened up a passenger terminal at Paine Field this year. PAE was recently named one of the 12 most beautiful airport terminals in the world, has valet parking and Beecher’s Handmade Cheese.

YMCA

The Everett Family YMCA built a new home, and it sure is beautiful. With a lazy river, all new equipment, and gorgeous views, what’s not to like? Their doors opened earlier this month, just in time to make the list!

Check out our tour of the YMCA.

Golden Fleece Billiards

Downtown Everett’s first dedicated pool hall has food and a full bar to console you after you scratch the cue ball. Rack ‘em up and enjoy a few games with friends or join in on a tournament.

Christa Porter is stoked.

Zamarama Gallery

Can a city have too many art galleries? Not in our book! We were happy to see Zamarama Gallery come to town. Make sure to check them out at the next Art Walk (3rd Thursday of every month).

Lime Scooters

Although currently “offline for the season due to Winter weather,” Lime Scooters made quite the splash when the city did a 90-day pilot program earlier this year. A fun and spontaneous way to zip around town, these little two-wheelers have changed the look of our city as we know it.

Watch us take the Lime Scooters for a spin.
