It can be really fun to dress up and go somewhere for an expensive dinner on Valentine's Day, but there are also lots of reasons you might go the more affordable route this year. You might still be reeling from the Christmas credit card bills, or maybe you decided to spring for the crazy flower arrangement this year. Or perhaps some tasty Mexican food just sounds perfect.

Mazatlan in downtown Everett is your best affordable, delicious choice.

Their fixed-price Valentine's Day menu is $35 per person for a cocktail, entree and dessert. Choose from a strawberry mojito, fresh cucumber margarita, Mazatlan margarita or blood orange margarita to start.

All the food options this year look really tasty. And remember, the best part of going on a date should be sharing everything so you get to try twice as much stuff. Divide and conquer that menu! For your entree, choose fajitas (chicken or steak), or pork carnitas.

You can have your fajitas grilled to perfection or served in a cast iron skillet. Both ways sound fantastic // Photos courtesy Mazatlan

There's a third entree option we don't have a photo for, Camarones Mojo de Ajo. Butterfly prawns, mushrooms and onions sautéed in butter, garlic and spices. With rice and beans, of course. Sign me up!

Always remember you can ask for a box to take leftovers home. That's especially important on Valentine's Day as nothing kills romance quite like overstuffing yourself at dinner. Plus, you need to save room for dessert! There's the more traditional flan, plus a rich and indulgent chocolate lava cake.

Valentine's Day falls on Thursday this year, but don't worry if you can't make it out that night. This menu will be available Friday and Saturday as well. Go whichever night is convenient for you, or if you just can't get enough Mazatlan, go three nights in a row. We're not here to judge.
