The “Good Things Happen Here” Poetry Contest

Hey, poets of Milltown! Write a poem about Everett and you could win a Major League Pizza gift card and 2 passes to Fisherman’s Village Music Festival (not to mention sexy bragging rights and a published byline).

April is National Poetry Month and to celebrate we’re holding an Everett-centric poetry contest. Here’s how it works.

RULES

  • Write an original poem celebrating your love for Everett, Washington.

  • Make sure it’s positive in tone. Note that our motto is “Good Things Happen Here.”

  • Submit your poem(s) by the end of April 2019. Please submit no more than three poems.

  • Submissions must be under 500 words.

  • By submitting, you release rights and give permission for Live in Everett to publish your poem in its entirety on our blog.

  • We’ll select one winner whose poem will be featured on the blog.

  • Winner receives $50 to Major League Pizza and 2 passes to Fisherman’s Village Music Fest.

FORMATTING/SUBMISSION

  • Send your poem(s) in a single Word doc (.doc) or a Google Document.

  • Submit your poem to contact@liveineverett.com by 4/30/2019.

CHOOSING A WINNER

We’ll read all of the poems early in May and choose our absolute favorite. There are no formal criteria for choosing, we’ll just select the one that grabs our senses, tugs at our hearts, and causes the muses to weep. No pressure.

Try an impress us. Make your assonance shimmer. Dazzle us with diphthongs.

But most importantly: wow us with your love of Everett.

GOOD LUCK!
