The “New to Everett” Guide: 5 Reasons Why Mill Town Might Be for You

Everett is like oyster stout beer: hip and tasty, but not everyone gets it.

That’s okay.

New to the area? Thinking about moving here? Here’s what we got.

Homes are Half the Price

Let’s say it up front: regional real estate is out of control. Many people can’t afford to buy houses.

The average home price in Everett hit $400k this year. That’s still about half the price of a home in Seattle.

Want to stretch your mortgage dollars? Move here into a vintage craftsman-style home. Get a fixer-upper in a neighborhood with water views and pimp your ride with a little handyman work.

We’re "Parking Positive"

Our downtown is getting more crowded: sometimes I have to park *two* blocks away from my destination. In Seattle a two-block-away parking spot is a rare gift from the gods.

Everett has bike parking and bike lanes connecting the downtown to residential neighborhoods.

The Marina

We have the largest public marina on the west coast. The waterfront is a beautiful place to get a drink at a restaurant, visit the seasonal farmers market, or just gaze at the sea and islands.

Right now the city is building a footbridge that will connect the north residential neighborhoods to the waterfront. Soon you will be able to walk to the marina and back, making Everett life that much richer.

Wiggle Room

Are you a freelance artist in the gig economy? A millenial with student debt? Feeling entrepreneurial and want to start something new from scratch?

Everett is a good place for people who want to pursue their passions or live at a more relaxed pace. There’s room to grow. The drinks are cheaper and the rent is more affordable.

You won’t get crushed by the rat race here.

Self-Contained Community

If you’re someone who values strong interpersonal connections, you'll like Everett. It’s hard to be anonymous in this city.

We’re an urban place but there’s also a small town feel.

This is a tight-knit community. It's easy to find friends and network.
