Citrine Health Empowers Women Through Affordable Yoga, Bras, More

Minute Reads_3 minute.png

Citrine Health is all about wellness.

Their store/office/gym on West Marine View Drive is a great community resource for women. They especially cater to low-income women.

Citrine has a unique operating model: they're part nonprofit, part social enterprise, part medical clinic, part gym, part rental venue. Citrine's chameleonic strength is its ability to adapt to the community's needs.

I had walked by a few times but didn't realize how big the building was. Nor did I realize everything that they do.

When you walk in you see the Citrine Market on your right. It's a retail area that sells fair trade products, work by local artists, and yoga items (see a sample of the goodies in a slideshow below).

When I visited I saw displayed prints from regular Live in Everett contributor Elizabeth Person of Sketchy Everett fame.

To the left is the Bra Shop. It's the only Medicaid-friendly place in Snohomish County where post-mastectomy women can be personally fitted for specialized bras and prosthetics. Citrine has two certified mastectomy fitters on staff. These specialists completed 500 hours of certified training and took a test to learn how to do their job.

All women (mastectomy or not) can go into the Bra Shop and get a private custom fitting by an expert. I'm told you don't get this level of knowledge and care at, say, Nordstrom's or Macy's.

Citrine has a gym: exercise balls, weights, stationary bikes. It costs $20/month, which is a steal for a monthly gym membership. Their exercise room is open from 7 AM to 6 PM. They also have yoga classes for an additional fee. They do massage and reflexology (one employee describes reflexology as "the best foot massage that you can imagine").

Citrine offers a scholarship fund to women on disability, making these classes accessible to women of all income levels.  They provide complementary massage, reiki, hypnotherapy, acupuncture and yoga to women living with chronic or acute illnesses.

In the back of the building is a multipurpose conference room available for rental at $40/hr. They host weddings there. Memorial services can be held there, too, for a donation.

The 2,300 sq. ft. space has 100 tables and chairs for use. There's a bar and a kitchen that comes with rental of the venue.

Citrine Health was so much more than I expected. I got the feeling that they truly care about women and are always thinking of innovative ways to meet needs in our community.

Go there for wellness while supporting others in their journey.
