A New Cafe With Breakfast All Day and Much More: Breakfast@Tiffani's

After months of wondering what was happening behind the papered-up windows at Breakfast@Tiffani's, I drove by and found everything cleaned up, painted, and ready to go. And that it wasn't just a breakfast place, they'd also be serving some of my favorite things: bagels, banh mi, and bubble tea. After finding them closed a couple of times, I started going out of my way to drive by while heading to other places, and finally found them open one afternoon.

Knowing I'd visit twice or more, I started with the banh mi and a bubble tea for lunch, and was a little shocked when they brought out what was either the biggest banh mi I've ever seen, or two of them.

Diving into the smaller piece first, I found big, juicy chunks of pork and a generous slathering of mayo. The pickled vegetables were crunchy and just sour enough, and while the cucumber was far too big, it was fresh and firm. We discussed soft versus crunchy baguettes at the end of the Banh Meetup 2 video and this one was definitely toasted perfectly for Tyler, whereas I'll ask them not to toast it next time I'm there.

That smaller half was plenty, so I went back inside to get the rest to go and ask if there was a misunderstanding and I somehow got two. It turns out that's how their baguettes come from the supplier, and since there are two different sizes, they can't really serve one or else the sizes would be inconsistent, or half couldn't be used. These are the types of issues that are worked through during a soft opening, so by the time you try a banh mi there, it might be just one sandwich.

I returned for breakfast another day and sat inside, where I found the coolest tables I've seen in a long time. They're attached to the wall, so you don't have to worry about them moving if someone bumps into them on the way by. If you're like me and constantly worry about drinks getting knocked over and silverware falling to the floor, this is the section for you.

The scrambled eggs with sourdough toast came with the eggs directly on the toast, which I wasn't expecting but didn't mind at all. The eggs were over stirred, making for very small pieces, but I like to think it's because lots of flavor was being stirred into them. They were delicious, with a deep umami flavor I couldn't identify, but want more of. Tomatoes and mushrooms on the side were bursting with juicy flavor, though the mushrooms had a bit too much pepper.

The training menus used for the soft opening had a limited selection, but I saw one customer enjoy a croissant sandwich and another barely able to make a dent in his giant helping of stir-fry noodles that he told me were great. This fun, friendly cafe has espresso and a pastry case, too, so it's perfect when you just need a pick-me-up instead of a hearty meal. Breakfast lovers, rejoice; Tiffani's serves it all day.
