Films to Watch Now - The Cutest 1 Minute Film You've Never Seen

Editors Note: Here's a guest post from the Everett Film Festival crew with a couple movie recommendations for ya!

The crew has been doing some intensive research for films for our February Festival. In late September at the Port Townsend Film Festival, we met with Sana Gomas, a film maker who will be producing a Sizzle Reel for our website. We also found a sweet one minute short called “Solemates” by Bryce Dallas Howard.

Here at Canon, we strive to empower people to spark their creativity. Whether you're an A-list director or a mom in Tulsa, we want you to be inspired by your everyday moments and capture them in new and amazing ways. That's why we're so proud to debut Bryce Dallas Howard's trailer as we ramp up for Project Imagination: The Trailer.

We were also at the Mill Valley Film Festival in California, and came home with some suggestions for us to pursue. Anyone interested in becoming a volunteer can go to our website here and sign up. All are welcome!

Both of the pieces pictured below will be raffled at the Festival, among other wonderful items.

Seattle Asian Art Museum: The Seattle Asian Art Museum will be closing in late February for construction of an addition and renovation of the existing museum. Video Artist Tabaimo will have an exhibit of her video installations beginning November 11 running through February 26, 2017. This is an opportunity to experience a video installation in this iconic Art Deco building. Take a sneak peek at Tabaimo’s work here.

Episode #168: Filmed in 2010 at 601Artspace in New York and Parasol Unit in London, Tabaimo discusses her animated video installation "dolefullhouse" (2007). The Japanese artist did not begin working on the artwork with a preconceived idea but rather started by adding disparate elements to the animation that then formed meaning through their interactions.

Drones Create Video Art: From Geology to Geometry, Drones are being employed to create video art in a way that is totally new. Here is a link to some amazing video accompanied by musical scores. The film festival crew’s personal favorite is Iceland. Here is a sampling of what you may find.

Vindur is a non-narrative short film shoot with drone in different parts of Iceland. Vindur means wind in Icelandic which is relevant to the way its shoot. So for 3 minutes you will get to enjoy amazing drone footage portraying Icelandic unbelievable landscapes. Beautiful waterfalls, endless valleys, unusual mountain ranges, out of this world landscapes, oceanic cliffs, old glacier, fantastic canyon and many other wonders that makes Iceland so unique and such a blast to shoot using DJI Phantom 3 professional. I really hope you enjoy watching it.
