Sketchy Everett Volume 25: Longfellow School

The historic Longfellow School is a now-closed elementary school building at 3715 Oakes Avenue, just to the east of the 41st Street freeway entrance. The thing is... it's gorgeous, historic and for sale by the Everett School District. The only catch is that the 2-3 million dollar building needs a mere 8 million or so to bring it up to code. The District has had little interest from buyers, so it's been slated for demolition.

After sketching this forlorn 1911 beauty, I learned that an anonymous donor has put in an offer to purchase the building, as a future home for the Everett Museum of History!  A lot more in funds will need to be raised for renovation, so it's renaissance is still without a concrete timeline.

In the meantime, let's give three cheers to civic-minded community members, visionary donors and the history in our neighborhoods!
