Join us at the Evergreen Branch for a film screening and discussion of "Airplane!" (Jim Abrahams, David Zucker, and Jerry Zucker, 1980). We all know it as one of the funniest (and crudest) films of all time, but before it could take flight, the 3-headed director posing as "Abrahams N. Zuckers" had to wrestle with the producers, financers, and the Director's Guild...all leading to a very loose remake of "Zero Hour!" (Hall Bartlett, 1957). An airplane crew all mysteriously fall ill. Surely the only man capable of landing the plane is an ex-war pilot terrified to take the helm...but don't call him Shirley. Ranked 10 on the American Film Institute's 100 Years…100 Laughs list. Preserved in 2010 by the Library of Congress National Film Registry. PG, 88 min.
This event is part of the Evergreen Cinema Society's Funny Film Fest, a yearlong series of the funniest films ever made chosen by critics...and you!
