Join Mayor Ray Stephanson and community leaders to learn more about housing needs in our region, and hear from national leader, Lloyd Pendleton, in the Housing First movement.
GUEST SPEAKER: Lloyd Pendleton
For more than eleven years Lloyd Pendleton has been an advocate for the homeless. In 2004 he took the lead in writing and implementing Utah’s Ten-Year Plan for ending chronic homelessness. In 2006 Lloyd worked as Utah’s Director of the Homeless Task Force to continue his plan to end chronic homelessness and reduce overall homelessness by 2015. As of January 2015, Utah has reduced its chronic homeless community by 91%. Lloyd also worked for the United States Interagency Council on Homelessness where he worked with the Department of Justice on reducing homelessness for those leaving incarceration. Viewing the homeless as his brothers and sisters, he realized that when they suffered, so did the entire community. “We’re all connected,” he now says.
