Spot Check: Rabbits Pantry

A couple of times a year I get together with my aunts and cousins for lunch at a tea room. We each get a pot of tea, sandwiches and scones and have a nice time. We’ve always had to leave town to do this so I am so happy to learn that Everett has a new tea room called Rabbits Pantry.

Not sure I’d be able to get the Live In Everett guys into a tea room for lunch, I thought I’d stop by and check it out myself and grab lunch to go.

Rabbits Pantry is located on Colby and I wasn’t sure where exactly it was so I used Apple Maps. Heading south on Colby, Siri was instructing me to turn into a parking lot that wasn’t there. The only parking lot available is off 40th Street behind the tea room. Street parking is available too. The tea room is in an old 1920 home. You can enter the building through the kitchen in the back or walk around to the front.

I didn’t have time for tea the day I stopped by so I ordered the Pacific Northwest sandwich which is salmon and cream cheese. It was a pretty typical tea room sandwich with soft wheat bread. I was pleased to learn that they offer vegan and gluten-free bread options, making it easier to get together with friends that have dietary restrictions.

The menu includes many sandwich options and soups and salads. Biscotti, scones and carrot cake are included on the treats menu. Rabbits Pantry offers Alice in Wonderland-themed high tea, but a reservation is required, so plan ahead.

Rabbits Pantry creates their own loose leaf tea blends with organic and non-GMO ingredients. Their packaging is reusable, recyclable and compostable. I look for all of these things in products I purchase so I grabbed a jar of tea to take home to try. I chose Fairy Zest, because of the name of course. It is a delicious blend of hibiscus, lemon and orange peel for a little tart and tang.

I’m looking forward to going back to Rabbits Pantry with my aunts and cousins for the full tea room experience and maybe I’ll pick up some more tea blends which will be great for holiday gifts. Rabbits Pantry’s Tuesday Evening Knitting Circle is also something I’m interested in checking out. In our city with so many beer events, a tea event is a very welcome option.
