PSL and Beyond: Everett Fall Drink Guide

Updated October 2018

Fall is upon us, which also means the dreaded PSL craze has once again begun. Whether you're a PSL lover or a hater, Everett has a slew of coffee joints with a variety of fall beverages for you to enjoy all autumn long.

To help get your chunky sweater game going, here's five coffee shops and their specialty fall drinks and snackage. Reader beware: these drinks are loaded up with all things spice, creamy goodness, and sugar. Lots of sugar.

1. Loft Coffee Bar

The Loft Coffee Bar is whipping up some pumpkin goodness this season with their pumpkin puree, syrup, and seasoning (so you can get as fresh or as artificial as you want).

Their Pumpkin Pie Latte is sure to get your afternoon spiced up with a sprinkling of cinnamon on top. Also try their specialty drink, a White Chocolate Mocha with Pumpkin Spice accompanied by a slice of Pumpkin Bread or a Pumpkin Scone.

From Loft's Facebook page. That's a giant scone IMHO.

And as always, enjoy your chocolate covered coffee bean that comes on top.

Address: 1309 Hewitt Ave.
Hours: Mon.-Fri. 6 a.m.-6 p.m., Sat. 7 a.m.-6 p.m., Sun. 9 a.m.-5 p.m.

2. Narrative Coffee

Narrative just rolled out their new fall coffee menu, and they did not disappoint. They're offering drinks packed with spices and in-house made syrups and sauces.

I got the Lil Punk'n, Narrative’s version of the PSL packed with an in-house syrup with a caramel base, pumpkin, cinnamon, nutmeg, cardamom, and all spice.

If you’re looking for something more adventurous, Narrative’s Third Wave Orange Juice is made with wild espresso, orange juice, orange cardamom syrup and thyme. It sound wacky, but the Third Wave OJ is a refreshing cold fall drink.

3. Silver Cup coffee

Silver Cup decided to get sassy with their specials this fall with a menu filled with puns like no other. They've got six different drinks to choose from, so here is a quick run down of the top three drinks that made our mouths water.

First up, the Vermonter—served only in a six ounce glass, its blend of bourbon barrel aged maple syrup, espresso and cream is perfect for sipping and reflecting on a blustery Everett night.

Second is the Frankenspice. Blending chocolate sauce infused with chili peppers and espresso, the Frankenspice will warm your bones and give you a bit of a kick at the same time.

Third, and this is the one I'll be trying next time, is the Basic Witch. Silver Cup’s take on the PSL, the Basic Witch is made with pumpkin puree for a fresh spin on a classic.

4. Cracken Coffee Roasters

Craken’s fall menu won’t be out until the 15th, but that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy their massive cinnamon rolls and a cup of their roasted in-house drip coffee, which is what I did on a sunny fall morning.

The coffee was smooth with a little bit of a bite on the finish and the cinnamon roll was warm, gooey and the best thing to warm me up and get me ready for the day.

Wait...what?

Okay, so maybe you don't like all these froufrou fall drinks and their crazy carbs. Maybe you're a traditionalist. Then strap some walking shoes on and go down to Sister's to get you a slice of homemade pumpkin pie and a fresh cup of black coffee.

Because tradition is important.
