Piroshki & Crepes Is the Real Deal for European Food & Drink

I think you will like this place.

In case you don't already know: piroshkis are handheld European savory pies. They're often meat-based, but can also come with cabbage, onions, potatoes, cheese, etc.

Crepes are extra thin pancake-like pastries— served savory or sweet.

How authentic is the food at Everett’s Piroshki & Crepes? Most of the employees come from one city: Krasnodar, Russia. They know each other and share the same cooking traditions.

The restaurant also employs cooks and bakers from the Ukraine, and Kazakhstan. They bring their European culinary craftsmanship to South Everett.

Besides authentic Slavic pastries, the Silver Lake business makes traditional borscht. They offer 117 luxury loose leaf teas as well as Turkish coffee.

When I visited, I ordered a smoky black Czar Nicolas Russian caravan tea. The powder blue ceramic teapot came out heated by a votive candle. The beverage came with a small ramekin of honey and a little pitcher of cream.

The full-bodied dark tea had a sweet, malty, and smoky taste. Very nice.

I also ordered an entire loaf of fresh German bread for $4.49. It arrived at my table still steaming; fresh from the oven. I ate about a third of it on the spot without butter or anything. It was that good.

Piroshki & Crepes worker Aleksey told me that he’s seeing a trend where piroshkis are becoming quite popular regionally. He says that they are a desirable food among locals who are looking for a novel go-to for lunch.

Ironically, this novelty comes in the form of old-world pastries.
