Why did you start volunteering for your neighborhood association?
To meet neighbors and contribute to the betterment of our neighborhood safety, parks and community fellowship.
What are your biggest challenges running the neighborhood association?
Volunteer succession planning, coordinating schedules, selecting interesting meeting subjects and speakers and creating diverse involvement.
What are the biggest rewards running the neighborhood association?
Goodwill, positive community and neighborhood relationships, active involvement in steering committee meetings, physical improvements to parks (Howarth and Harborview) and making a difference by creating a safe and fun place to live.
What are the neighborhood accomplishments you are most proud of?
The pump house memorial on the corner of Mukilteo Boulevard and Seahurst Avenue; and great turnouts for our annual Easter Parade and Scramble and National Night out Against Crime picnic at Howarth Park. We have an annual yard sale and Christmas pot luck. Also, we have four active Block Watch groups and four emergency supply caches.
What help do you need from neighbors?
Talking to each other, being a responsible extra set of eyes for Everett police and fire departments, CERT training, Map Your Neighborhood, home emergency supplies and training and volunteering for park maintenance and beach clean ups.
When and where do meetings happen?
Third Tuesday of each month - Fire station #4, corner of Glenwood Avenue and Merrill Creek Parkway - 7 p.m.

The parks, people, beach, amazing sunsets, safety and neighborhood pride in their homes.

Picnics at the park or on the beach.
What is your favorite place in your neighborhood to hang?
Howarth and Harborview Parks and associated beaches.
What is a hidden gem in your neighborhood?
Deer Park, trails near the beach and in private developments, undeveloped natural ravines and creeks (Pigeon, Merrill, Narbec)
