Local Secret Spot: Forgotten Creek

Do you know this place? Forgotten Creek?

It's a wild area, a wooded ravine right off the beaten path near downtown Everett.

The short gravel trail leads you across wooden bridges. The path switchbacks up the hill past ferns.

It's a nice walk with just the right amount of exertion. I've walked it twice on a lunch break before.

I ride my bike here sometimes.

There are maple trees, snowberry bushes (edible, but not recommended), and, yes... a burbling creek.

Springtime bridge vibes.

Parks are nice in warm weather. But I don't mind sitting on a bench on a winter day. Stream Simon and Garfunkel on your phone and get out that dog-eared paperback of Walden.

You introverts know what I'm talking about.

How do you get to Forgotten Creek? Go to the Pacific Campus of Providence Hospital (916 Pacific Ave). Park nearby if you're driving. The east trailhead is on the west side of the hospital, on the west side of Kromer Avenue.

There's a snack opportunity nearby: the Laurel Family Market on the corner of Laurel Drive and Kromer Avenue, one block south of the east trailhead. Get coffee and pistachios for your Forgotten Creek chill time.

Well, there ya go. The secret's out.

I hope you go sometime and enjoy a meaningful moment of solitude.
