Alfy’s for Grown Ups

I grew up in Snohomish County, so I have some street cred when I say I have eaten a lot of Alfy’s pizza.

A lot.

Now I take my kids there. And… I’m not crazy about the 'za. I probably hit my saturation point around middle school.

But I am adaptable. I have learned new ways to enjoy Alfy’s.

Here are some tips.

1. The Pac Man Table

I love hitting the arcade for a round of the ‘Pac. Alfy’s has “regular” and "modern" video game consoles, but for me there’s nothing that can beat being chased by a pixel ghost through a labyrinth filled with space/time portals.

2. All You Can Eat Salad Bar

I’m thirty years old. My metabolism doesn’t accommodate carb-heavy pizza like it used to. So I often opt for the salad bar.

It’s like a buffet full of nutrients and fiber. I like to lay down a heaping pile of greens with all the goodies: chickpeas, beets, carrots, sunflower seeds, and corn.

The salad bar is much more than salad. You can get bread sticks, jello cubes, or pudding.

Options.

3. Growler Fills

Alfy’s does growler fills. You can buy an Alfy’s growler and top it off with local beers.

Have you ever been to a pizza party with cake and a room full of toddlers? Yeah. You’ll want to get 64 ounces of IPA on the way out.

4. Ice Cream Delivery

I did this last week. Ordered ice cream to my home. You can order pints or little ice cream sandwiches and someone will bring them to your house and place them in your hands.

America the beautiful.

Combine this with the half price pizza deal (every day from 11-2 PM) and you'll rake in those parental brownie points.

5. Free Banquet Room

Sometimes we host kids birthday parties at our house. This entails almost a week of cleaning, shopping, selecting sheet cake, and arranging banners.

Other times I’m just like, “Nope, let’s do Alfy’s.” Because you can get a room, buy three cheese pizzas and call it an event.

You have to call in advance, though, because the banquet room is in high demand.

I’m not always dad of the year, but I know a pizza parlor hack when I see one.
