Exploring Everett Volume 1: Music At The Marina

The other night something pretty amazing happened. Sitting by the water, listening to music with my husband and dog, Everett actually started to feel like home. Hold the phone. This is on the Live in Everett blog so how exactly is that amazing? Let me back up.

My husband Matt and I are newbies, transplants from the other city in Seattle's shadow - Tacoma. Between us we had more than 20 years invested and we were so attached to our town I feel like we might have been on the road to a Dr. Phil intervention. Until life decided to throw us a curveball. We both had terrific job opportunities land in our laps. The catch? We had to move to Snohomish County.

This brings us to last Thursday evening. We ventured down to the Music at the Marina next to Lombardi's to listen to one of my all time favorite bands - The Paperboys. Sitting in our camp chairs with our dog, listening to good music, watching the locals crowd the stage and the sun set over the harbor, all for free. It was pretty amazing. I leaned over and said, “I could get used to this.”

If you go to enjoy the music I recommend arriving early. The lawn was already packed when we arrived at 5:45, and parking was rapidly becoming a bit of anarchy. But hanging out is half the fun. There’s beer to drink, friendly neighbors to chat with and more than a few dogs to pet. Then settle in for the show. I feel bad for the musicians on beautiful summer evenings though. The sunset really steals the show.

You’ll be hearing more from us as we start to explore and make Everett home. There are beers to drink, local haunts to visit, and parks for the dog to sniff. And we promise to share all of our favorites.

If you go…

The stage by Lombardi’s has free music Thursday and Saturday Evenings. Venture to Silver Lake and they even have music just for kids!
