5 Fast Favorites: Bill Rucker

If you don’t know Bill Rucker, you definitely know about his family. Bill Rucker is the descendent of the Rucker Brothers, one of Everett’s founding families, so he should know Everett better than… anyone, right?

Check out Bill’s favorite spots in Everett and listen to our interview with Bill Rucker from episode 125 of the Live in Everett Podcast.

1. FAVORITE PLACE IN EVERETT TO TELL FRIENDS ABOUT?

Everett YMCA

The Everett YMCA has been in downtown for around 100 years, and in December, will move to its new home south of 41st street. Rumor is that the original YMCA building will be kept, but nobody knows what will go into the historic building.

2. FAVORITE PLACE IN EVERETT TO GET OUTSIDE?

Jetty Island

We already miss Jetty Island, which ended another season of ferry rides on Labor Day. A haven for kiteboarders and people looking to relax and unwind on its rare sandy beaches.

We love Jetty Island so much we named it the best chill spot in Everett.

3. FAVORITE PLACE IN EVERETT HANDS DOWN.

Everett High School

Bill called himself a “true blue Everett High man,” so it makes sense that he would choose his high school alma mater for his favorite place in Everett. Home of the Seagulls, Everett High School has been educating students for over 100 years.

Everett High also produced an NFC Champion quarterback.

4. FAVORITE ANNUAL EVENT IN EVERETT?

Fresh Paint

There’s nothing like browsing the waterfront for art during Fresh Paint, the two-day August festival for artists. In addition to local art, you can enjoy music and more while taking in views of the marina.

5. FAVORITE HIDDEN GEM IN EVERETT?

Everett Boys and Girls Club

The Everett Boys and Girls Club has been around since 1946, and at its current location on 12th street since 1965. Th Everett Boys and Girls Club provides kids and young adults STEM and fine arts classes, sports and more.
