Get a Taste of What’s to Come from South Fork Baking Company

Editor’s note: South Fork Baking Company recently announced its grand opening for September 16 + 17 2023. In anticipation of the big day, we’re throwing back to this story, originally published 12/20/21.

I’ve been parking on Grand Avenue, crossing the bridge and doing a walk around the Port of Everett quite often lately. Wow, what glorious Everett-Esque views! The Port recently announced the groundbreaking for a bakery and restaurant right along my walking route.

How much more wonderful would my stroll be with a cup of coffee and maybe the reward of a baked treat afterward?

I was scrolling through my Facebook feed and noticed that one of our new coffee shops, Catalyst Coffee, serves South Fork Baking Company goodies. Turns out that South Fork Baking is the bakery going into the new construction at the Port. I did a little digging and found that the bakery is indeed already an Everett business. Launched 7 years ago with a location in Arlington, proprietor Katherine offers wholesale goods and has been offering custom retail goods for the past 4 years.

She is now baking in Everett until the opening of her retail location at the port, hopefully by mid-summer. Until then, you can place orders online and either pick them up or schedule delivery. I’m thinking about a custom cake for an upcoming birthday and maybe some bake-at-home cinnamon rolls for New Years’ morning. There are many scrumptious options you can simply click and order that don’t need the customization decisions.

Scroll South Fork Baking Company’s Instagram or Facebook feeds for stunning, mouthwatering pastries, cookies and decorated cakes.

I asked Katherine about her most favorite thing to bake or a customer favorite and she told me that “customers love our cakes and holiday specials.” She said that her “favorite to make (and eat) are our signature chocolate chip cookies. They have a mix of semi-sweet and 70% dark chocolate in them - they're the only thing I can't resist straight out of the oven!”

Keep an eye out on social media for the retail space grand opening. South Fork Baking Company is planning to offer extensive pastry offerings, made-to-order foods and small plates. They “are excited to utilize the space for free community dinners, pop-ups for fellow small business, and baking classes.”

Until then, should I order a Chocolate Peppermint Mousse Pie or a Gourmet Marshmallow Gift Pack or maybe both?
